Flaky or non-responsive keys

Post by merlinrides »

Well finally got my NABU hooked up and running, only to find the N key was non-responsive and the 7 key was flaky.

There were a couple of good general keyboard repair guides here on alps keys:

Then more on the apple II keyboard which is closer to how the NABU keyboard is setup:

After confirming the PCB tracks to the keys were working I decided to carefully spray deoxit contact cleaner on the two keys and leave them overnight. Fortunately, that fixed the issue, otherwise, I may have had to break out the soldering iron...

So this post is more of a 'what I learned' because I couldn't see too much out there on the subject...

Thanks for this. I have a few bad keys, so I'll need to try things to fix them.
